Antonelle, Katherine, March 31,2009. East Hampton, NY. Born in Patchogue, LI, to Joseph and Helen Stringer Laughlin where she was a championship swimmer, having won the Cross Great South Bay Race several times. She later swam for NYU and the Orbach’s swim team holding a world record for one day, and becoming an Olympic alternate. She graduated from NYU with a BS in physical therapy and was a therapist at Metropolitan Hospital and then with New York Medical College-Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospitals where she was chief physical therapist for the hospital and Coordinator of physical therapy for the College. She later owned and managed a yacht refurbishing service and sold durable medical equipment. She was a resident of White Plains for over thirty years, being very active in community affairs. She served on the scholarship committee for White Plains, was a member of the board and a president of the St. Agnes Hospital Auxiliary. She assisted in coaching, handling financing and travel arrangements for the Middies swim team at the White Plains YWCA, and chaired the Annual Westchester Classic Swim Meet. She was a member of the choir at Our Lady of Sorrows and was active on several committees there. She was an active golfer at Westchester Hills Golf Club, and was the coordinator of volunteers for the LPGA classic for three years. She was an active fund raiser for multiple charities in the Westchester area. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Michael Antonelle, of East Hampton, her four children, Jean Antonelle Burt of Ulster Park NY, Michael Antonelle, III, of South Salem, NY, Dr. Robert Antonelle, of White Plains, NY, and Helen Kozak, of Clarksville, MD, her sister Jean Budd of East Hampton, NY and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church in White Plains on Saturday at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
