| Obituary: Michael P. Bucolo passed away on March 3, 2009 at the Westchester Medical Center at the age of 98. Michael was born in Giardini, Sicily on July 9, 1910. He was educated in Giardini and later served in the Italian Navy in the Red Sea area. In 1938 he married Rosa Nucifora and resided for 19 years in Asmara Eritrae in Ethiopia where he established his art of ornamental ironwork and precision welding. He returned to Sicily and continued his trade and later immigrated to the United States in 1956. In 1957 he established Bel-Air railings on Marble Avenue in Pleasantville New York. He resided in both Pleasantville and Ossining until his passing. Michael is survived by his loving wife Rosa of 70 years and his 7 children Grace Bucolo of Irvington, Gloria (Salvatore Saetta) of Pleasantville, Joseph Bucolo (Irene) of Ossining, Barbara(Frank Ghersini) of Millwood, Silvana (Terrence Donati) of New Jersey, Laura (Anthony Rossi) of Ossining, and John Bucolo of Mount Kisco. He was also a beloved grandfather (nonno) to 15 grandchildren and 8 wonderful great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, March 6th, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Beecher Funeral Home at 418 Bedford Rd, Pleasantville NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7th at Holy Innocents R.C. Church on Bedford Road in Pleasantville at 10am. Entombment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, NY. |
