| Obituary:
Born in New York City to Edgar Zimmermann and Mary Barry Zimmermann, Edith was a life long supporter of education and the arts. Mrs. Crawford graduated summa cum laude from Good Counsel Academy in White Plains where her love of books and theater blossomed. She went onto to earn a bachelor degree from Good Counsel College and a Masters degree from Queens College. Ms. Crawford met her husband of 45 years, William Harris Crawford, who told her upon seeing her, “You’re the girl I will marry.” She began her career as a Librarian at Westlake High School. Later she went on to work at Hawthorne Elementary and Columbus Avenue Schools. Career highlights include creating a gifted and talented program, theater club at the high school, and a Shakespeare program for elementary school students. “Mommy” will be missed greatly. She is survived by William H. Crawford, Jr. (wife Alicia) and Mary A. Crawford, both of Pleasantville, her grand daughter Mary K. Hammond (husband Josh Mediavilla) of Conn. and her 3 grandsons William, Timothy and James all of Pleasantville and her beloved great granddaughters, Jada and Sophia. The family will receive friends at the Beecher Funeral Home, Inc. in Pleasantville today from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. A Blessing will take place at Holy Innocents R.C. Church on Thursday at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In Lieu of Flowers Donations made be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy, 52 N. Broadway, White Plains, New York.
