Obituary:
Lemmon, Wayne Alan passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, in the very early hours of the morning on January 4, 2009.
Wayne Alan Lemmon was born on August 3, 1949 in Seaside, Oregon, to the late Wayne Charles and Helen Lemmon. He lived in various places around the United States, including California, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio. He attended Cranbrook Preparatory School in Bloomfield, Michigan, which he described as a truly wonderful educational experience.
Following his graduation from Cornell University’s five year architectural program, Wayne met Beverly Rabkin Lemmon in New York City, and they were later married. After receiving a graduate degree in Urban Planning from a specialized program at City College, the newlywed couple moved to Washington, DC area. There Wayne worked as a real estate economic consultant for 28 years with several national consulting firms and the Rouse Company. He was the loving father of two children, Matthew Alan Lemmon (age 27) and Jessica Sharon Lemmon (age 23).
He authored the Owner’s and Manager’s Market Analysis Workbook published in 1983, and was a regular contributor to the Planning Commissioners Journal based in Vermont. He was also a member of the Planning Commissioners Journal Editorial Advisory Board.
In 2000, Wayne and his family moved to Westchester County, where he served as the Director of Market Research for The Baker Companies. In his free time, he was an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in New York, and served for two years as president of his community’s Home Owners Association.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, son Matthew, and daughter Jessica.
A private funeral was held, and the family will be observing a period of mourning at their home Wednesday through Friday of this week. A memorial service will be held at on January 12, 2009 at 1:30 pm at the Holiday Inn Mount Kisco, One Holiday Inn Drive, Mount Kisco NY 10549.
