Obituary: Fr. Martin was born February 19, 1924 in Somerville, Massachusetts to John Joseph Connors and Delia Mary Riley Connors and christened Joseph Michael Connors. He took his profession of vows on August 16, 1945 and was ordained a Dominican priest taking the ordination name Martin in Washington DC on June 7, 1951. During his life as a priest he taught theology at Providence College, was a brother in the Trappist Monastery in Spencer Massachusetts, did pastoral work and then missionary work in Kenya for a short time and then Pakistan for more than 20 years before returning to the States in 2004 to Rosary Hill Home. Fr. Martin had 5 siblings, four have predeceased him, Mary Elizabeth, John Francis, Helen Delia and Ann Theresa. He is survived by one sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann who lives in the Boston area with her husband John Hurley.
Fr. Martin is survived by his sister Betty, nieces and nephews Joseph Connors, Marcia Connors, Mary Ellen Kent, George Kreber, Lawrence Kreber, Cecilia Doyle, Phillip Kreber, Paul Kreber, Jackie Hurley, Mary Beth Hurley, Christopher Hurley, and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Fr. Martin will be received at Holy Innocents R.C. Church in Pleasantville at 4 PM on Tuesday where visitation will continue until 9 PM. Office of the Dead will take place at 7:30 PM at Holy Innocents Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary at Rosary Hill Home 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.
