| Obituary:
H. John Gross, most recently of Cortlandt Manor, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Peekskill. He was 83 years old.
John was born in 1927 in the City of Mt. Vernon to the late Herman and Mary (Rapp) Gross. John was married for 53 years to Joan Maher, who predeceased him in 2008, and raised their family in Tuckahoe, NY. John was the loving father of Michael (deceased in 1978), Rosemary (Tom) Ryan, Maureen (Stephen) Gross-Kearns, Brian (Carey) Gross and loving grandfather to 8 grandchildren: Christopher, Patrick, Sean, Katierose, Jennifer, Cathleen, Daniel and Andrew. John is also survived by his brother Robert Gross of Murrells Inlet, SC and a large extended family.
John served in the US Navy at the end of WWII and was a retired Fire Lieutenant from the City of Mt. Vernon. He went on to earn his Nursing Degree from Pace University in 1974 and worked for 17 years at the Westchester Association of Retarded Citizens in Mt. Kisco until 1994 when he retired.
Family will receive visitors at Beecher Funeral Home, Pleasantville, NY on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Innocents RC Church in Pleasantville on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
