Mildred F. Sassman passed away on July 7, 2010, she was 85 years old. Mildred was born in Pleasantville to Harold and Fanny Jarvis. She is predeceased by her parents and older brother Edwin. She married Wesley D. Mackey in 1945 and they had a son Wesley D. Jr. Wesley Sr. passed in 1961.She married again in 1970 to Matthew E. Sassman. He passed on in 1988. Mildred graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1942. After graduation and prior to marrying Wesley Sr. she worked in various defense factories in the Mt. Pleasant area during WW II. She resided in Pleasantville until 1972 when she and Matthew moved to Wesley Jr’s home in Carmel. She is also survived by her sister Jean See in Staten Island and multiple nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her younger brother, Richard Jarvis in Florida, also home to many more nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Beecher Funeral Home, Inc. in Pleasantville on Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM. A Service will begin at 1 PM at the Funeral Home. Mildred will be buried at a later date at Kensico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
