| Obituary:
Sister Mary Robert Mulvey, OP (Bernadette M. Mulvey) died on October 26, 2009 at 1:20pm at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY after an extended illness.
She was born October 1, 1918 in Boston Massachusetts. She was the daughter of George and Inez (Wiley) Mulvey.
She enlisted in the US Army in 1945 and served three years.
Sister entered the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne March 12, 1952 after working as a stenographer
Sister made her Profession of Vows, on September 14, 1953.
Sister Robert served at Rose Hawthorne Lathrop Home, Fall River, from 1954 to 1964. She was transferred to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta in 1964 and six years later she was transferred to St. Rose's Home in New York City, on April 6. 1970. From St. Rose’s Home Sister was assigned to Our Lady of Good Counsel Home in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 26, 1984 where she served until September 25, 2008. The Sisters were leaving the St. Paul area and Sister returned to Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY.
Sister Mary Robert is survived by two nephews Richard (and Joy) Garland of New York City, Robert (and Virginia ) Garland of Solana Beach, California and a niece Virginia (and Nari) Mistry of Ithica, NY. She is also survived by 15 grand nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held on Wednesday October 28, 2009 at Rosary Hill Home from 4:00pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 29, 2009 at 10:30am in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary at Rosary Hill Home. |
