Obituary: Florence D. Tiernan , (nee Sheehan) 91, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 1, 2009. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Anna Regina and Michael Vincent Sheehan. Flossie, as her friends and family called her, was one of nine children. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, caring teacher, Hibernian, and friend to many. She is survived by her sons, Michael Tiernan, his wife Dorothy and their children, Christine, Michael and Dawn; John Tiernan, his wife Diane and their daughter, Paige; and her daughter, Peggy Meehan, her husband, John and their children, Jeanne, Kristen, and JR. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1994 and her six sisters and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 9:45 a.m. at The Church of St. Rose of Lima, 269 Parkville Ave, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of your choice.
