WINNE, Florence Maude (nee James), of Pleasantville, New York, died September 22, 2009. Florence was born to Edward Thompson James and Anna Louisa Christina Klug on September 23, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York. Florence married the late Loyal Alfred Winne in March 1940. The couple settled in Pleasantville to raise their three daughters, Lois Ann Gizzi (Samuel), Diane Edith Lehnert (Timothy), and Joan Alison Crossman (Michael). Florence retired from the Reader’s Digest Corporation in Chappaqua. After her retirement she was active with the United Methodist Church of Pleasantville Women’s Sewing Group. She is predeceased by brothers Edward James, William James and sister Bertha Rowehl. She is survived by two older siblings, Marjorie Hohn and Frank James, her three daughters, three granddaughters, Deborah Gizzi, Donna Torrisi, and Joelle Kovanic-Persaud; four great-grandchildren, Michael Torrisi, Deanna Torrisi, Emily Persaud, and Nicholas Persaud; along with numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. The family will receive friends at the Beecher Funeral Home, Inc, in Pleasantville on Saturday from 11:30 AM – 1PM. A prayer service will begin at 1 PM. Interment to follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla. |
